Supplies List for “Caning in Monochrome” class
Students bring:
- Polymer clay: 8 oz white, 8 oz black, 2 oz silver and/or pearl (Kato, Fimo or Premo brand)
- 50/50 mixture of Fimo Translucent and Sculpey III Translucent (mix together one 2 oz block of each brand, and roll out on the thickest setting of your pasta machine) Fimo can be either Soft or Classic
- Preferred work surface (large glass or ceramic tile)
- Brand new Thomas Scientific Tissue Blade (For sale at class for $3 each)
- Stiff clay blade (any blade, just not the flexible ones)
- Hollow Lucite roller (for sale at class for $6)
- Pasta machine (motors are welcome, don’t forget your c-clamp!)
- Ruler
Materials provided by instructor: (There is a $10 materials fee per student)
- Detailed handouts
- Index cards, deli wrap, baby wipes
- Small Lucite roller
- Pin, pendant or pill box blanks for finished item
- Sample of polishing papers
- Special markers for tinting canes
- Optional finishing glaze
